U is for Undecided

U is for undecided. I carved two Barack-o-lanterns, but I'm unsure about this one. The design is etched onto the pumpkin rather than cut through. It looks well by day, but I'm wondering what it will look like at night. I'll update this post, with more pix, after dark.

Barack o'lantern

While we wait for nightfall, here's a delightful morsel: Francis Fukuyama, who served in the U.S. State Department under Presidents Reagan and Bush (41), endorsed Barack Obama in American Conservative magazine, saying, "we need to rethink a lot of the Reaganite verities of the past generation regarding taxes and regulation." ::silence, then glee:: For gentle readers unfamiliar with Fukuyama, suffice to say this is akin to the end of history! Put another way, be on the lookout for flying pigs (with or without lipstick).

To be continued after MY SnB....

Update: The etched pumpkin had a wonderful subtle glow when illuminated from within – I liked it, but it seemed a bit ::cough:: nuanced for Hallowe'en, not to mention my poor digicam was completely flummoxed by the understated elegance.

Dim Barack-o-lantern

So I cut out the design and set the other pumpkin beside it. That's better – this year, I'm going with the brighter pair!

Bright Barack-o-lanterns

Have a happy and safe Hallowe'en!

I gotta say I really like Osborne's take on the Obama logo. I don't think he's been endorsed by the Big O and he's been accused of stealing his logo, but I think putting a city skyline in there is more appropriate for these parts.

you know what, personally, i can't stand these beasts of christmas past trying to reinvent themselves. while sen. obama is way more conciliatory than I'll ever be, as far as I'm concerned all of those cretins who are responsible for the havoc they invented or perpetrated or perpetuated or marketed or whatevah, should all go down in the junk heap of history as total whack jobs!

Excellent pumkins! Sorry to have missed SnB. I was out toilet papering my neighbor's house (and they ours). Good link! I'm happy to see pigs flying and I'm even ready to have monkeys fly out my butt if need be.
