Pink Alert

Today's weather forecast calls for a high of 60° F (15° C) and sunset is at 7:31 p.m. EDT, so the plan for the evening is an after work drive-by cherry blossom viewing in Branch Brook Park. Since every sock deserves an adventure, I'm taking my second round Sock Madness sock, Tokena by Tricia Weatherston.

Tokena sock in progress

I'm hoping the combination of rain earlier this week, brief snow yesterday, and warmth today will make the flowers pop this evening. I've never seen the phenomenon myself, but under the right conditions cherry blossoms can go from swollen bud to blown flower in under two hours. Only a handful of plants can move that fast (unquestionably faster than I'm currently knitting).

Branch Brook Park aka Cherryblossomland is well-served by NJ Transit trains, buses, and light rail, and is handicapped accessible. If you can't make it in person, there's the new Cherryblossomland cam.

Your socks look fab so far! I have to say, this was my favorite of the patterns I test knit. I could NOT put it down. Then again, that's how I am with colorwork.

Great color choices on the socks. Very "Spring in Newark".

Enjoy the blossoms, there are great bike trails on that side of the park. ~ksp

Beautiful sock and I agree with Kelli that the colors are very "Spring in Newark." Someone should write a song.

I like the pink and black combo, they look kind of punky. Was Madonna in the 80s hanging out in Newark in the spring?

That is a cool sock pattern! We took a drive to Branch Brook Park today and didn't see too much in bloom. Were we too early or too late?
