H is for Hiatus

H is for hiatusPlurk button. Alas, I've fallen behind* in the ABC-Along. Why? Erm, the latest of several time sucks excuses is Plurk ("A Social Journal for your life"). I'm still not quite sure I quite get it, not that that's germane to anything – in this case [cough] praxis trumps theologia. So... let's see if the widget works here and in the sidebar.

ETA: Looks like it does!

Hm... if I reference this post on Plurk, will teh Internets blow up? (Scampers off to try it.)

H is also for hap shawl. For the Tour de France KAL, I finally cast on for a modified hap shawl, Shetsoie by Odile Buatois-Brand. Le Tour started July 5 [cough]; I signed up for the Maillot Vert – the sprinter's competition. Ahem. The designer used her own handspun Shetland wool and silk yarn and traditional Shetland lace patterns, hence the name; I'm using vintage stash, Rowan Kaffe Fassett Light Tweed 4 Ply. I dimly remember knitting the yarn on US 3 (3.25 mm) needles originally, but for the shawl US 7s (4.5 mm) are working well. (Sorry about the horrible photo.)

Shetsoie in progress

By missing the Grand Départ from Brest, I missed the chance to burble on about the most excellent dessert in cycling, Paris-Brest, which are French cream puffs shaped like a bicycle tire. Perhaps it's just as well – sprinting begins now!

*Diligent ABC-Alongers are up to N.

I have to re-evaluate my TdF project. I started the entrelac socks, and I just don't like 'em.

If I'm going for the polka dot jersey, do I have some leeway to start when they hit the mountains?

Gotta go find a new project.

The patisserie near my office sells Paris Brest. Now I'll have to try one. I'm am so so intrigued by the Plurk thing. Probably going to succumb soon.
