Strange Coincidences

Maybe I'm just tired – too tired to compose more than a perfunctory post or even to knit or spin – and suffering post-Rhinebeck triste to boot. Yet through the fog methinks I detect certain strange coincidences in this year's festival.

Convergence

For example, there's my modest acquisitions: a big, beauteous 2.2 oz (62 g) Golding RingSpindle (it was very cool to watch Tom Golding shaping swan's neck spindle hooks during a quiet moment) and A Dyer's Garden by Rita Buchanan, a book that combines fiber arts and gardening. It's not strange that I bought it, what's strange is it so perfectly matches two of my somewhat disparate interests. Hm....

Not wool

Then there's this purchase. It's not natural wool roving – it's natural maple cotton candy (the sign says so)! Dee-licious stuff and, as you can see from the bits stuck to this dude, both flyaway and sticky. It's more novel than strange, except notice the colors on the drapes – they match the cover of the book. Hm....

Maple cotton candy dude

Pondering the random coincidence is sufficient to drive me to my bed with a roaring headache, but not before giving a shout out to tireless Nancy, who kindly drove (traffic coming home was horrendous!) – thanks, Nancy!

I had some of that yummy cotton candy last year! The spindle is gorgeous. Sorry about the headache. I drove home with a horrendous headache but avoided the nasty thruway for a change.

I'm sorry I missed you guys this weekend but it looks like you made some good purchases! Perhaps the headache was caused by the last one? ;)

Sorry I missed you and Nancy on Sunday. My cell phone did not get service on the fairgrounds on Sunday! Crappy t-mobile. That cotton cnady is a must have! I bought bags on Saturday and Sunday (my son ate most of it; he mixes it with yogurt. strange but tasty). I forsee some dye-centric gardening come srping.

Driving home wasn't so bad after the nice sugar rush I got from the maple sugar cotton candy and almond fudge - thanks, Ina! It was a fun day and I'm very happy with my new acquisitions :o)

Yeah, I think the cotton candy would have given me a headache, too ... the spindle is beautiful, and that book is clearly meant for you!

How was that cotton candy? We opted for the good old pink and blue variety - the kids won!

I bought my first Golding spindle this weekend too and just love it.

Looks like a great book. I just put it on my Christmas list

We too got stuck in the horrendous traffic back to NY/NJ. Ughh! glad you had a good time.

Did you finish your sweater in time? ~ksp

Sorry I missed you this year! The combo of knitting and gardening is irresistable, as is that maple cotton candy. I'm wondering how my husband missed that booth?? He did manage to find the candy apple one, though.
