Just like some of the interminable highway improvement projects roundabout Exit 151, progress on Lanesplitter first slowed, then stopped. I noticed the edges of knitting, which in due course become the waist and hem of the skirt, were splaying badly. Splay is great for hyperbolic projects, not so great here.
With provisional cast ons, splay can happen because of mismatch between the gauge of the CO and the gauge of the work. I frogged back, undid Judy's Magic CO, and tried a crochet CO, above. No soap, still splayed. I was about to do the ultimate fix when the next Sock Madness pattern dropped, so that was the end of that. For now, anyway.
